Opening Up America Again

There have been updates from government officials that America is slowly but surely opening up again. In the latest news, President Trump has released guidelines for Opening America Again, a three-phased approach based on the advice of public health experts. Under the current state of conditions in America, some steps need to be in order to adjust to this new sense of normalcy. Below are some precautions that should have to be taken into consideration.

According to the CDC, three areas should go into effect before proceeding to open: Criteria: the data-driven conditions each region or state should satisfy before proceeding to a phased opening; Preparedness: what states should do to meet the challenges ahead; And Phase Guidelines: Responsibilities of individuals and employers during all phases, and in each specific phase of the opening.

Moving forward, individuals should continue to practice good hygiene (i.e., wash your hands with soap or use hand sanitizer, avoid touching your face, etc.), people who feel sick should stay home. Employers should develop and implement appropriate policies, per Federal, State, and local regulations and guidance, and informed by industry best practices. Monitor the workplace for indicative symptoms and develop and implement policies and procedures for workforce contact tracing following employee COVID+test.

The details of each phase of the guidance plan further address the aspects of daily life for which restrictions remain appropriate due to COVID. Phase one describes measures for States and Regions that satisfy the gating criteria. Phase 2 represents measures for States and Regions with no evidence of a rebound, and that fulfills the gating criteria a second time. And lastly, Phase 3 explains the actions for States and Regions with no evidence of a rebound, and that satisfies the gating criteria a third time.
